Health Sciences - Emergency Medical Responder

This class introduces students to the world of healthcare and the many careers within it. Students will learn basic medical skills, how to care for patients, and the importance of communication, safety, and ethics in healthcare. It’s a great starting point for anyone interested in working in the medical field or continuing health studies after high school.

This course explores how the human body functions by studying its major systems and how they work together to keep us healthy. Students will learn about common diseases, how they’re diagnosed and treated, and the medical terms used in healthcare. It’s a hands-on class that builds on Introduction to Healthcare and helps students understand the science behind medical careers.

The Marietta High School Emergency Medical Responder course trains students how to assess patients, perform CPR, control bleeding, manage shock, and provide other essential first-aid skills to stabilize people in medical emergencies until Advanced Life Support (ALS) arrives.

This student-led organization helps young people learn about and prepare for careers in healthcare through education, collaboration, and hands-on experiences. It provides students with opportunities to develop technical, leadership, and teamwork skills while preparing for careers in healthcare.
