About Us
Blue Devil Chorale
Chorus is open to all students at Marietta High School. Students must register for the class in the spring to have it added to their schedule. Students are expected to exhibit self-discipline and pride as members of the Blue Devil Chorale. Students are responsible for attending all rehearsals with a serious attitude and a willingness to grow in artistic ability. There are three ensembles that students may participate in: Bel Canto, Concert Choir, and Chamber Choir. While each ensemble performs separately, we are known as the Blue Devil Chorale when we perform collectively.

Prerequisite: None
Provides opportunities to develop performance skills and knowledge in mixed choral singing. Covers performance and production, analysis and theoretical studies, historical and cultural contributions and influences, creative aspects of music and appreciation of music. Organizes objectives for self-paced progress through all four levels. Stresses individual progress and group experiences. Participation in choral performances outside of regular class hours is expected.
Beginning Chorus II

Prerequisite: Beginning Chorus I
Enhances level-one skills and provides further opportunities to develop performance skills and knowledge in mixed choral singing. Covers performance and production, analysis and theoretical studies, historical and cultural contributions and influences, creative aspects of music and appreciation of music. Stresses self-paced progress and group experiences. Participation in choral performances outside of regular class hours is expected.

This course provides opportunities for mastery-level performers to increase performance skills and knowledge in choral singing. It covers performance and production of more complex choral literature with an emphasis on analysis and theoretical studies, historical and cultural contributions and influences, and the creative aspects of music and music appreciation. An emphasis is placed on self-paced progress and a variety of group experiences. Participation in choral performances outside of regular class hours is expected.
Mastery Mixed Chorus II

Prerequisite: Mastery Mixed Chorus I
Enhances level-one skills and provides further opportunities for mastery-level performers to increase performance skills and knowledge in choral singing. Meet the Director
Dr. Brittny H. Woods joined the faculty at Marietta High School in July 2023 and currently serves as the Director of Choral Activities. She previously taught in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System for 12 years. Dr. Woods served as the Director of Choral Activities and Musical Theatre at New Hampstead High School, where she was voted 2024 Teacher of the Year. Additionally, she was selected for the “Punk Rock Unity” Project for “her dedication to creating engaging and enriching learning experiences for her students, as well as her commitment to supporting her students’ social and emotional well-being.” Dr. Woods served as Choral Director at Oglethorpe Charter School and Music Specialist at Godley Station K-8 School, where she began her teaching career. She has held adjunct teaching positions at Savannah State University and Ogeechee Technical College, where she was honored as the 2019 Adjunct Professor of the Year.
Dr. Woods earned her Doctor of Music Education degree from Liberty University. Her research examined culturally responsive pedagogy and repertoire selection in secondary choral music classrooms. Dr. Woods earned her Master of Music Education degree from the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University and her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Georgia Southern University. Dr. Woods is an active conductor, clinician, and guest speaker. Her professional affiliations include the National Association of Music Educators (NAfME), Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and the Georgia American Choral Directors Association.
Dr. Woods and her husband, Dr. Gabriel Woods, have a daughter, Gabrielle, and a teacup yorkie, Maestro.
