MCS Kaleidoscope Choral 
Concert, May 7


Over 300 chorus students from Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (Kenneth Grant, director), Marietta Middle School (Sabrina Robertson, director), and Marietta High School (Michael Zauchin, director) collaborated for "Kaleidoscope" spring choral concert. Kaleidoscope continues a choral tradition that allows students to experience the artistry of choral music on all secondary levels.


MHS Student Receives Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Scholarship, May 4

Marietta High School (MHS) student Naterrika Reid is the recipient of an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority scholarship. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Zeta Omega Chapter, in conjunction with The PEARL Foundation, Inc., recently awarded $14,000 to 10 deserving young ladies in Cobb County. These young ladies were honored at the organization’s annual scholarship reception on Saturday,
May 4, 2013, at The Home Depot Support
Center in Atlanta, GA.

MPLC/MHS Students Wins Alexis Grubbs Scholarship, May 2

At the Cobb County Bar Association's Annual Law Day Awards Luncheon, five Marietta High School (MHS) students received the Alexis Grubbs Scholarship. The Cobb County Bar Association along with the Cobb County Legal Secretaries Association grants this award to Marietta High School seniors who are entering the legal profession. This year’s MHS scholarship recipients are Jake Bagwell, Tatiana Jackson (student at Marietta Performance Learning Center), Sarah Moore, Shivani Patel, and Malachi Chaim-Robinson.

MHS Varsity Soccer Pink Night, April 16
Solar Powered Car Races
Marietta High School (MHS) boys and girls Varsity Soccer took on Norcross and wore Pink for the Cure during their recent Susan G. Komen for the Cure Night. A portion of the gate receipts, concessions, and spirit wear were donated to this worthy cause.

Student of the Month


Ana “Bridget” Reyes, a 2013 graduating senior at Marietta High School, was named the April 2013 Student of the Month. She is ranked 52/324 in her class and has earned several awards including the Biology Honor's Award and the Marietta YELLS Going the Extra Mile Award. Bridget is the Founder and President of the MHS chapter of HOPE (Hispanic Organization Promoting Education) that has over 90 members. She is also a member and team leader of the Marietta YELLS (Youth Empowerment through Learning, Leading, & Serving) mentoring program for students residing in low income communities. Bridget will be the first person in her family to attend college. She has received the 11Alive Kids Who Cares Scholarship and awaits word from several more academic and community service-based scholarships.




MHS ECE Program Earns Industry Certification, April 2

The Marietta High School (MHS) Early Childhood Program has earned Industry Certification from the Georgia Early Childhood Education Foundation (GECEF). “Certified” designation denotes a rating of excellence. MHS will receive a plaque denoting the achievement at the GACTE Summer Conference in July.

MHS Students Take Top Honors - Georgia ProStart Competition, March 23


Marietta High School (MHS) students Sarah Bernknopf, Sarah Dickerson, and Victoria Johnson recently took 1st place honors at the Georgia ProStart Management Competition for their restaurant concept, BOwL’D, where everything they serve is served in a bowl and is BOLD. The students created a restaurant plan and had to present it to potential investors (judges) in a 10 minute presentation. They will now compete at the national event in Baltimore, Maryland
in April. 

MHS Students Win Medals - FCCLA STAR Competition, Feb. 23


Marietta High School (MHS) students recently won Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals in individual and team events at the FCCLA Regional STAR Competition. MHS Seniors, Angelica Cheeks and Aaliyah Gresham won Silver medal team honors in the Food Innovations category; MHS Junior Desiree’ Lee won a Bronze medal for an Illustrated Talk about her summer day-camp for neighborhood children, and MHS Junior Kendall Gilliam won a Gold medal in the Job Interview category.

MHS Student Delegation Recognized - MUN Conference, March 4-5

Congratulations to the Marietta High School (MHS) French team for finishing in the top 10 of the 40+ schools competing at Kennesaw State University’s 28th Annual High School Model United Nations (MUN) Conference! MHS had 23 students in attendance representing five different nations on various committees that simulated actual UN committees and topics. Individual delegate awards were also awarded to Morgan Middleton and Camille Reaves.

Marietta Honors Star Student, Teacher, 
State champion – March 6


At the March 6 meeting of the Marietta City Council, Marietta High School (MHS) student Zach Cole and teacher Kibbie DeJarnett were recognized as Star student and teacher. City leaders also honored Marietta High School (MHS) student-athlete Lawton Ward as the state wrestling champion, MHS's second state wrestling champion in history. Ward, a three-time region champion, won his region in the 9th, 10th and 11th grades and still has his senior season left to compete. More»

MHS Wind Symphony Earns Superior Ratings - GMEA LGPE, March 6

The Marietta High School (MHS) Wind Symphony received top marks at the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). The judges spoke highly of the group’s high level of musicality, and the sight reading judge commented that the confidence and attention to instruction and detail demonstrated by the student’s in their music was incredibly strong. Congratulations MHS Wind Symphony!

Congratulations to Marietta Middle School(MMS) band student J.J. Ndubuisi and Marietta High School (MHS) band student Nick Cheater for their selection to the All State Band! Both students make us proud and recently represented Marietta City Schools in Savannah the first weekend of March.
