High School Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets Earn Officer Leadership School Awards
Cadet Summer Leadership School at Converse College
For the first time in the 13-year history of the Cadet Summer Leadership School at Converse College, two cadets from the same school captured the school’s top two awards— Marietta High School (MHS) Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) cadets Cristian Coronado and Kelly Ryan earned the Basic Cadet Distinguished Graduates Awards, and top performer awards for Academics, Physical Fitness, Drill, Personal Inspection and Room Inspection. MHS Students Receive National Band Association Award, June 7-11
Marietta Middle School and Marietta High School Marching Band students: Shanna Mattson, Erika Seiber, and Patrick Dickerson, recently participated in the Cobb Symphony Orchestra/Kennesaw State University Summer Music Clinic. Erika Seiber and Patrick Dickerson were among six award recipients, out of 82 clinic participants, to receive the National Band Association "Outstanding Music Camper Award" in Recognition of Performance and Leadership.
MHS Boys Track Wins Region 5AAAAA Title, May 5
The Marietta High School (MHS) Blue Devils track team won the team title for the 3rd consecutive year at the Region 5AAAAA boys track and field championships Wednesday at McEachern. The Blue Devils earned the victory with 152 points, and placed 2nd and 3rd in the field events in both the triple jump and shot put. Congratulations to MHS Coach Nick Houstoulakis and the team for their performance!

World renowned cardiothoracic surgeon and chief of cardiovascular surgical services at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Dr. William Cooper, recently spoke to Healthcare Science students at Marietta High School (MHS). A graduate of Emory University Medical School, Dr. Cooper challenged the students to keep their focus and not allow distractions to keep them from reaching their goals. Dr. Cooper also invited students to job shadow and to observe him in surgery, an excellent opportunity for any student considering a career in the healthcare industry.

Two High School Students Selected 2010 Governor’s Honors Finalist

Marietta High School (MHS) junior David Sanders, and sophomore Ana Vianei were recently selected to participate in the 2010 Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP). Teachers nominate rising juniors and seniors in a specific instructional area for participation in the program. Sanders was nominated for Mathematics and Vianei for Social Studies. More»

MHS Principal Colburn Named 2010 YWCA Woman of the Year, Mar. 26

ColburnMarietta High School (MHS) principal, Leigh Colburn was recently named the 2010 YWCA Woman of the Year by the YWCA of Northwest Georgia at the annual Tribute to Women of Achievement held at the Cobb Galleria Centre. YWCA honorees demonstrate positive leadership in their personal and professional endeavors, and are leaders at businesses, nonprofits and in volunteer sectors. Congratulations Leigh!
