Graduation Requirements

Pathways to success

Marietta High School is a comprehensive high school providing a full range of educational opportunities. Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses are available in English, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language and fine arts. 

Career/technical programs of challenging applied academics and vocational studies are operated on-site and in collaboration with area technical institutes.

The Youth Apprenticeship program, work study programs, and the Executive Internship program afford students the opportunity to gain valuable worksite experience while still in high school.

Special education, Limited English Proficiency and gifted classes are available to eligible students, as are post-secondary and joint-enrollment courses in conjunction with local universities.

Grading Profile

Scale:

A  = 90 - 100
B  =  80 - 89
C  = 73 - 79
D  = 70 - 72
F  = Below 70
FA = Failure due to absences
NG = No Grade
WD = Withdrawn
CP = College Prep
TP = Tech Prep

Marking System: (Non-weighted courses)

A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0

The entire class is ranked using all grades earned. Rank is computed at the end of the junior year and at the end of the senior year.

  • IB Biology I & II, IB English 12

FOR STUDENTS ENTERING PRIOR TO 2008
Selected College Prep and Pre-IB courses are weighted .5 per semester. These courses are:

  • Pre-IB American Lit/Comp
  • Pre-IB French II
  • Pre-IB Spanish II
  • Pre-IB German II
  • Pre-IB Latin II
  • Pre-IB Economics
  • Pre-IB Chemistry
  • Anatomy/Physiology
  • Physics (CP)
  • Chemistry

Post Secondary courses in Math, Science, English, Social Studies and Foreign Language shall be weighted 1.0 for passing grades.
