MHS Named Best High School U.S.News and World Report
For the fourth consecutive year, U.S.News & World Report's annual list of the best high schools in the country, named Marietta High School (MHS) one of the best high schools in the nation. Of the 21,035 public high schools examined by U.S. News, the magazine named MHS a silver medal winner, and ranked the school 1,463 nationally and 27th in Georgia. More»

On April 23, 2008, the school district became the first IB World School district in Georgia authorized to offer the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) for grades 6-10. With the addition of the IB Middle Years Program to the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) offered at Sawyer Road Elementary and the long-standing IB Diploma Program (DP) at Marietta High School, MCS is one of only a few school systems nationwide able to provide the full IB (K-12) continuum.

Marietta Reads! & Cobb County Public Library Partner For Literacy, May 25
Marietta City Schools (MCS) and the Cobb County Public Library System are teaming for free events to support and celebrate the district’s Marietta Reads! literacy initiative. On Saturday, May 25 at 2 p.m., join Marietta Reads! and Lynne Yates of the Georgia Equine Rescue League (GERL) for a free workshop about horse rescue. This free event takes place in the Activity Room of the Hattie G. Wilson Youth Services Department located at the Cobb County Central Library, 266 Roswell Street, Marietta. More»

Spring 2013 Kiwanis GEM Awards, May 16
 The Kiwanis Club of Marietta recognizes a teacher and/or administrator as well as a student in each of the Marietta City Schools for "Going the Extra Mile" (GEM). Each school has a plaque on the wall of their school with the names of each GEM Award recipient since 1996. The spring 2013 Kiwanis GEM Awards were presented Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Marietta Conference Center.
MHS Summer School Registration, May 15 – June 3
Marietta High School (MHS) grades 9-12 Summer School (Session I & II) begins Tuesday, June 4 and ends Thursday, June 27, 2013. To register for MHS grades 9-12 Summer School contact Joanne Trout, MHS Curriculum Secretary - Room A203. Summer School Registration ends June 3.

MHS Educator Nominee LLS Jannon Barker Memorial Award
Kibbie DeJarnett, a French teacher at Marietta High School (MHS), Student Council Sponsor, Junior Class Advisement Team Leader, and School Coordinator of the Georgia Pennies School & Youth program, is a nominee for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Jannon Barker Memorial Award. Only eight school sponsors statewide, selected out of 778 schools that participate in the Pennies for Patients program, receive the award each year. More»

Marietta High School Approved To Offer IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC)
Marietta High School (MHS) recently earned approval from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer the new International Baccalaureate Career-related Certificate (IBCC). The IBO authorization establishes Marietta High School as only the third International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in Georgia to offer the IBCC, and Marietta City Schools as only the second Georgia school district to provide the full IB continuum of all four IB programmes (Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma, and Career-related Certificate). More»

2012-2013 Energy Challenge
Save-A-Watt is an energy conservation contest for Marietta City elementary and secondary schools to compete to decrease their electrical consumption and identify sustainable energy conservation methods. Marietta City Schools launched Save-A-Watt in 2009 in partnership with Marietta Power & Water and Apogee Interactive, Inc.
