MHS Named Best High School U.S.News and World Report
For the fourth consecutive year, U.S.News & World Report's annual list of the best high schools in the country, named Marietta High School (MHS) one of the best high schools in the nation. Of the 21,035 public high schools examined by U.S. News, the magazine named MHS a silver medal winner, and ranked the school 1,463 nationally and 27th in Georgia. More»

On April 23, 2008, the school district became the first IB World School district in Georgia authorized to offer the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) for grades 6-10. With the addition of the IB Middle Years Program to the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) offered at Sawyer Road Elementary and the long-standing IB Diploma Program (DP) at Marietta High School, MCS is one of only a few school systems nationwide able to provide the full IB (K-12) continuum.

Marietta City Schools Provides Children Free Meals Throughout Summer Months
Marietta City Schools (MCS) participates in the Seamless Summer Option program and continues to provide free meals to children while school is out for the summer. There is no income requirement or registration. Any child under age 18 may receive a free meal at any of the five Marietta locations from June 3 – July 19. No service is available on July 4. More»

Energy Conservation – Summer Hours Marietta Schools, Facilities & Central Office
Marietta City Schools (MCS) moves to its summer schedule four-day work week beginning June 7, 2013, with most facilities closing one day per week Fridays: June 7, 14, 21, 28, and July 12, and 19. All MCS facilities and schools will close Thursday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. All MCS facilities return to a regular five-day workweek Monday, July 22, 2013. More»

2012-2013 Energy Challenge
Save-A-Watt is an energy conservation contest for Marietta City elementary and secondary schools to compete to decrease their electrical consumption and identify sustainable energy conservation methods. Marietta City Schools launched Save-A-Watt in 2009 in partnership with Marietta Power & Water and Apogee Interactive, Inc.
