America's Best High Schools
U.S. News & World Report's 2010 annual list of the best high schools in the country, named Marietta High School one of the best high schools in the nation. Of the 21,786 public high schools examined by U.S. News and its partner in the project, School Evaluation Services, the magazine named MHS a bronze medal winner.


District Offices, Schools Closed – Labor Day Holiday, Sept. 6
All Marietta City Schools' facilities and administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day. Classes resume Tuesday, Sept. 7. Have a safe and happy Holiday!
MCS Superintendent Among Finalists GSSA 2011 Superintendent of the Year
Marietta City Schools (MCS) Superintendent, Dr. Emily Lembeck is among four finalists named by the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) for 2011 Superintendent of the Year. Lembeck, also a finalist in 2010, was selected from among a field of twenty superintendents, three-fourths of them that were placed in nomination by members of their local boards of education. More»
Marietta High School Teacher 2010 Flourish Awards Recipient
Marietta High School (MHS) dance teacher Chiazor Nwabude will be among the honorees at the 2010 Flourish Awards presented by The Kennesaw State University College of the Arts at the Third Annual Flourish Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Other award recipients include Theatre in the Square of Marietta; Seth Hopkins, executive director the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville; and Lee Rhyant, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta. Blue Devil Walk, Sept. 3
Marietta High School (MHS) Blue Devils Football fans are invited to line up along Polk Street (starting at West Side Elementary) for the 1st annual Devil Walk, Friday, Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. Join in the celebration of Blue Devils Football 2010 and cheer for our team as we start this new tradition for all MHS Blue Devil Football home games!
MHS Lip Synching Contest, Sept. 4

Marietta High School (MHS)  will host a lip synching contest, in the school's Black Box Theater, at 7 p.m., Sept. 4 to raise funds for the MHS theatre program.
News Anchor Guest Speaker - MHS Senior Assembly, Sept. 9
Linda Stouffer, news anchor at Channel 2 Action News will speak to Marietta High School (MHS) seniors at this year’s Senior assembly, Sept. 9 at 9 a.m. Stouffer comes to WSB-TV from the CNN Networks, where she worked for 12 years. As an anchor for CNN Headline News, Linda covered 9-11, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the capture of Saddam Hussein, presidential elections, hurricanes Katrina and Rita and many other national and international news events.
Marietta Blue Devils Live @ RTV/WSB-TV, Sept. 10
Watch the Marietta High School Blue Devils on Sept. 10 as they take on McEachern. Channel 2 WSB-TV and PlayON! Sports will broadcast live high school football games to fans all over north Georgia. Games will air on Channel 2’s second digital channel, RTV at 7:30 p.m. and replay at 1 a.m. on Channel 2. RTV can be found on Comcast Cable channel 248 or Charter channel 127.
Marietta Reads! 8th Annual Event – Marietta Square, Sept. 25
Marietta Reads!, the Marietta City Schools citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in the community, celebrates its eighth-year anniversary on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Glover Park on Marietta Square from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
