MCS Parent Satisfaction Ratings Increase
Marietta City Schools (MCS) recent strategic planning survey shows parents overall level of satisfaction rose from 81.1 percent in 2006 to 89.5 percent in 2009. This measure represents the percentage of parents who responded being either “somewhat satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the school district’s performance on key priorities in the system strategic plan. The April 2009 survey mailed to 5,099 households reflects a response rate of 15.9 percent by 813 parents. Two surveys were mailed, a Title I schools survey paid from Federal Title I funds ($22,000), and a non-Title I school survey paid from General Funds ($3,000).

Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets Capture Summer Leadership School Awards
Eight Marietta High School (MHS) Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) cadets of Unit GA-20021 recently attended Cadet Leadership School (CLS) at Converse University in Spartanburg, S.C. The MHS cadets won numerous awards and competed with over 200 cadets from schools throughout the Southeast. More»
Board Approves FY10 Budget
The Board of Education of the City of Marietta adopted the FY10 budget at their Jun. 16 meeting. The board voted 7-0 to adopt the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1. The adopted budget balances revenues and expenses at $80.8 million, compared to FY09's balanced budget of $83.3 million, a decrease of 3 percent, or $2.53 million.
GHSGT / GHSWT Retest Administrations
Marietta High School students in need of retesting for either the Georgia High School Graduation Test and/or Georgia High School Writing Test must pre-register to participate in the testing. Students not pre-registered will have to wait until next testing opportunity in Sept. 2009. A photo ID is required to participate in testing.

Energy Conservation - Summer Hours Energy Conservation at Most District Facilities and Central Office
Marietta City Schools (MCS) moves to a summer schedule four-day week beginning June 5, with most facilities closing one day per week Fridays: June 5, 12, 19, 26 and July 10 and 17. MCS will close Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. More»

Pre-Registration and Pre-Opening/Open House – Dates Set
Marietta City Schools (MCS) classes begin Monday, Aug. 10. Pre-registration dates/times and Pre-opening/open house activities dates/times vary district-wide. The MCS Transportation Department hosts their annual "Kindergarten Kruise" Thursday, Aug. 6 during regularly scheduled route times.
